US President Barack Obama has commemorated Diwali by lighting the first-ever diya in the Oval Office of the White House and also really hoped that his followers would continue the custom. Obama, that was the initial president to celebrate Diwali directly at the White Residence in 2009, spoke about this memorable occasion in a Facebook post soon after he kindled the diya in his Oval Workplace with some Indian-Americans operating in his management.
“I was happy to be the very first President to host a Diwali party at the White Home in 2009, as well as Michelle and I will certainly always remember how individuals of India welcomed us with open arms and hearts and also danced with us in Mumbai on Diwali,” Obama claimed.
